Optimos is currently seeking suitable candidates for Sr. Systems Administrator positions to support the National Science Foundation's Data Center & Infrastructure Services program in
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
· Performs Solaris/Linux administration functions including installation, maintenance, and integration of all facets of Solaris/Linux system software products
· Performs Solaris/Linux research, analysis, and provides recommendations for the most productive use of computer resources
· Performs problem determination on Solaris/Linux based systems and resolves issues in areas beyond the expertise of applications developers
· Assists Security Officer in monitoring operating system security. Maintains intrusion detection and hardening processes in conjunction with established policies and guidelines
· Maintains disaster recovery configurations for Solaris/Linux systems, performs annual disaster Recovery test for these platforms and maintains disaster recovery documentation and procedures in support of these systems
· Manages and optimizes system operation and resource utilization
· Performs and/or provides guidance with system capacity analysis and planning
· Performs and/or guides systems administration tasks and monitoring of all web servers and application servers
· Provides assistance to users in accessing and using business systems
· Analyzes and develops technical documentation detailing the integration and system performance or information security
· Performs administration tasks related to identity and security management
· May perform other related tasks as assigned
Required Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and 5+ years of general experience. Six (6) years of general experience is considered equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree. With a Master’s Degree, three (3) years of general experience is required. With a PhD, 1 year of general experience is required.

· Proactive monitoring and tuning of database availability and performance
· Tuning and reorganization of data files based on database engine specific guidelines
· Management and enforcement of database security
· Effective design and implementation of database backup and recovery procedures
· Coordinate and perform regular and scheduled database administration tasks
Required Skills:
