About the Client
The client offers innovative solutions by providing new materials and technologies that drive changes in the design and use of consumer and industrial products in every manufacturing arena of the world.
Challenge
To synchronize the various plants in the European region and create a single instance solution.
The company was using legacy AS/400 Mainframe System for their financial needs and GEMMS for the process manufacturing management. These systems lacked advance planning, scheduling and sequencing requirements. Additionally, certain complex functionalities were not being addressed effectively.
Approach
The key challenges in the planning phase were major system scheduling conflicts since the legacy system did not support the planning and scheduling programs. It was decided to convert these systems to Oracle 11i and OPM Financials.
After assessing the capabilities of the legacy systems, Optimos used ASCP in a constrained mode for the planning and scheduling needs. Once data is fully converted to the Oracle solution, the company would be able to utilize the complete OPM and ATP suites.
Optimos led this implementation by focusing on Advanced Supply Chain Planning (ASCP) and production scheduling.
As part of the project the Optimos consultants handled:
• Driving proposed changes to the newer system
• System design (functional & technical)
• Customization of workflows, forms, interfaces and reports
• Data conversion and mapping
• Testing
• End user training
Benefits:
With the successful Oracle OPM implementation the company will be able to:
• better manage their in-process and on-hand inventory.
• The comprehensive supply chain system will provide better visibility across multiple facilities.
• have better scheduling ability system avoiding inconsistency while meeting complex requirements.
• allow a faster and more accurate financial reporting and management capabilities that will result in easier closings.
